Rapid Response Collecting
V&A London: inaugurated July 2014
Rapid Response Collecting, from the V&A’s Design, Architecture and Digital department, marked a major new way of thinking through the museum’s collecting activity. Presenting designed objects that reflect and affect active moments in our contemporary history, it was groundbreaking at launch and remains highly influential in its display and curatorial methodology. As Assistant Curator during the project’s first phase, I was actively involved in its direction and implementation, and the selection and curation of many objects. The strategy helps the V&A to engage with important events that shape, or are shaped by design, architecture and technology.
